The gallery
Sfeir-Semler Gallery, with spaces in Hamburg and Beirut, is focused on international Contemporary art with emphasis on conceptual and minimal art. The gallery has given a special focus on artists working in the Arab World. Since the opening of its Beirut branch in 2005, Sfeir-Semler Gallery has become a major cultural exchange platform in the Middle East. Walid Raad, Akram Zaatari, MARWAN, Yto Barrada, and others hosted dynamic curatorial projects including Bidoun Magazine’s NOISE, Catherine David’s ‘In the Middle of the Middle’, and HomeWorks, a recurrent forum on contemporary art based in Beirut.
